Scoring a goal when you lose 1-5 at home is never something to really celebrate, but Orlando Da Costa scored such a unique goal from such an impossible angle, that it provided the only bright spot as his team, Concordia, were humiliated at home by Pandurii in the Romanian first division.
In something that reminded everyone of Roberto Carlos’ goal for Real Madrid in the previous decade, Da Costa scored just near the touchline from outside the box, scoring one of the most impressive goals we’ve seen this season from anyone. The problem was that it came in the 80th minute, with his team already three goals down.
Concordia finished 15th last season in Romania, but have enjoyed a decent start with two wins in their first three matches, keeping them above, for now, the relegation zone, although it’s hard to believe we’ll see them competing beyond the 12-11th place in the table.
Pandurii, enjoying goals from Erico Da Silva, Eric, Nicandro Breeveld, Deivydas Matulevicius and Alexandru Ciucur are now ranked sixth in the Liga I after three wins, a draw and two losses this season so far. They finished second last season, and are now in the playoff round of the Europe League, facing Braga of Portugal.
Previously they beat Hapoeal Tel-Aviv from Israel and Levadia Tallin of Estonia in order to progress.
